Cotton is one of the easiest fabrics to care for and most common fabrics used for pyjamas. Cotton pyjamas are found in many sizes, styles and designs and are cool to wear in the summer and warm in the winter. They are perfect for babies because the cotton can be mixed with nylon to create a stretchy type of cotton fabric. This allows your babies pyjamas to grow with them instead of having to buy new ones every month.
Cotton pyjamas are one of life’s small luxuries. The cotton can be brushed to create a soft outer layer while the inside of the pyjamas remain smooth and natural. It absorbs moisture so you don’t have to worry about becoming sticky from sweating while you sleep. Most cotton fabrics wrinkle easy but cotton pyjamas are designed so that wrinkles seem to fall right out of the fabric. The designs that these pyjamas are available in range from cartoon characters to the most conservative gowns.
It is easy to dye cotton to any color imaginable. Because it is dyed, some bleeding of the colors may occur but after a few washings, you should not see any more bleeding. Cotton also shrinks. When washing cotton pyjamas, it is best to wash them in cold water because hot water can cause them to shrink and be tight fitting. Once they are washed, you will notice some shrinkage due to the hot dryer however, most times after they are worn for several minutes, the weave loosens up.
Staining can be a problem with cotton pyjamas. Because cotton is a natural fiber, proteins tend to be absorbed by it leaving it stained. If your pyjamas are white, you can use a chlorine bleach to remove the stain. Colored cotton takes a little more care and should be washed as soon as the stain is noticed. It is best to pre-treat any stain visible on colored cotton with a mixture of laundry detergent and a spotting liquid. Be sure to treat both sides of the fabric to help release any stain that may have made its way through the fabric.
