One of the cleanest looking types of sleepwear is white pyjamas. White has long been associated with cleanliness and purity so it only makes sense that white pyjamas would give the impression of being clean. When you are choosing nightwear for infants, babies or children, white probably isn’t the best choice due to the fact that it is easy to stain them although white has been a popular color for a number of different styles of clothing including socks and undergarments.
If you do by chance purchase white pyjamas for a child, you should make sure they are only worn for sleeping in. Many times when these are worn for lounging or playing in, they become stained. Depending on the material, the stain could be permanent ruining the looks of the garment altogether. Children’s white nightwear should be made of cotton or a polyester and cotton blend. These are easily bleached and tend to release stains much easier than 100% polyester does.
Early settlers to the new world wore white pyjamas because they had no other options. Men and women alike wore white gowns. They were wore only for sleeping and put on just before going to bed and taken off before they even left the bedroom in the morning. Designs and styles have changed since those days and we are given choices in the type of sleepwear we don. White is also a popular color of nightwear for new brides on their honeymoon. It is rare to find men’s sleepwear in white however women’s and children’s are much more common.
You may have to search hard to find white pyjamas due to the fact that they are no longer as common play as they once were. It is not impossible to find though. You can do a general search online and find an abundance of online retailers that offer them. They are generally no more or less expensive than any other color of nightwear and can be found in a number of patterns, styles and sizes. Choose your white pyjamas carefully and make sure they can be washed with your other clothing before making your choice.
